The island, a melting pot of various cultures creating a rich and diverse community, following its motto ‘Après le Bon Dieu, c’est la Terre’ (meaning After God, the Earth), is investing heavily in ecotourism, sustainability projects, and protecting its resources.

The Commonwealth of Dominica is a part of the Caribbean Sea’s Windward Islands chain of the Lesser Antilles archipelago. It consists of rugged mountains covering an area of 750 km2 with Morne Diablotins, the highest point at 1,447 meters. Health

It has been called one of the world’s happiest countries to live and has numerous centenarians. The country’s health care is funded by general taxes with 4.2% of the GDP being spent on health in 2011.

The nation has several hospitals while primary health centers and clinics cater to local medical needs. Tertiary health care needs are met outside the country.

Education

Primary education is free and compulsory, provided by government – run public schools. Secondary education is mandatory. Students can choose between attending community college, the Dominica State College, or a number of international universities that have branches here, such as All Saints University School of Medicine, etc.
